What Investigators Review in Head-On Collisions Involving Heavy Vehicles
Head-on crashes involving passenger vehicles and heavy-duty tow trucks often require detailed reconstruction to determine how both vehicles entered the same path. Investigators typically assess lane position, vehicle speed, and roadway markings.
Road conditions and visibility are also reviewed, especially during morning hours when traffic patterns are changing. Even brief lane deviations can result in a severe impact when large vehicles are involved.
Vehicle damage patterns can indicate the angle of impact and the movement before the collision. This information is often combined with roadway evidence to establish how the crash developed.
