What Can Lead to Commercial Truck Accidents in Parking Lots and Loading Areas?
Commercial vehicle crashes in parking lots often happen because of limited visibility and tight maneuvering space. Large trucks require wide turning areas, and smaller obstacles or nearby vehicles can become difficult to see during backing or turning movements.
Traffic flow inside truck stops and loading areas can also increase the risk of collisions. Drivers may be entering or leaving fueling stations, parking spaces, or delivery lanes at the same time. Congested conditions sometimes make it harder to react quickly.
Vehicle size differences may also affect how crashes occur. Garbage trucks and semi trucks both have large blind spots and longer stopping distances than passenger vehicles. Even low-speed impacts can lead to injuries or property damage when heavy commercial vehicles are involved.
