How Crashes Involving Trucks and Trailers Can Develop
Vehicles towing trailers require additional space and time to turn, change direction, or enter another roadway. The size and weight of a truck-and-trailer combination can affect how quickly a driver can complete a maneuver.
Passenger vehicles traveling near larger trucks may have less time to react when a vehicle changes direction unexpectedly. Road design, visibility, vehicle speed, and driver actions are often considered when reviewing such roadway incidents.
Safety checks for trailers, proper turning techniques, and awareness of differences between vehicle types can help reduce risks. Understanding how trucks and passenger vehicles move differently can help drivers make safer decisions on shared roads.
