Why SUV and Semi-Truck Crashes on High-Speed Highways Often Require Air Transport
Crashes involving SUVs and semi-trucks on interstate highways often result in serious injuries due to the size and weight difference between the vehicles. High speeds on interstates can also increase the severity of impacts in collisions.
In some cases, air transport is used when rapid medical care is needed, and ground travel may take longer due to distance or traffic conditions. This allows patients to reach trauma centers more quickly.
Investigators typically examine vehicle positions, speed, roadway conditions, and traffic flow when reviewing interstate crashes. These factors help reconstruct how the collision developed and whether any contributing circumstances were present.
