Why Highway Closures Often Follow Serious Two-Vehicle Crashes
When a serious crash occurs on a highway, full closures are often needed to allow emergency units to provide care and safely manage the scene. These closures also give investigators space to document evidence such as vehicle positions and roadway markings.
High-speed roads like highways can increase the severity of injuries due to the force involved in collisions. Even when only two vehicles are involved, the impact can lead to significant roadway disruption.
Investigators typically review speed, lane position, and traffic flow patterns to better understand how the crash developed. Once the roadway is cleared, additional analysis may continue as more information becomes available.
