Castroville, TX (July 7, 2026) – One person was killed, and others were hurt Sunday morning, July 5, after a black Chevrolet Camaro rear-ended a GMC Yukon on westbound Highway 90 East at Tonde Pkwy in Castroville. The crash was reported at approximately 7 a.m.
The Yukon was carrying a family of four at the time of the wreck. One passenger was pronounced dead at the scene, and another was taken to a hospital with serious injuries. The Camaro’s driver was also taken to a hospital.
Alcohol or drugs may have played a role in the collision, though toxicology results are pending. Criminal charges will be determined based on those results and the findings of the ongoing investigation. No identities have been released following the accident. The cause of the crash is still being formally reviewed.
