What Is Commonly Reviewed After a Centerline-Crossing Crash?
When a vehicle crosses the centerline and enters oncoming traffic, investigators typically review several factors to determine what may have happened. Vehicle positions, roadway markings, driver actions, and environmental conditions are often examined as part of the process.
Information from witnesses, physical evidence on the road, and damage to the vehicles can help establish the sequence of events. In some cases, medical issues, distraction, fatigue, or other factors may also be considered when available evidence is reviewed.
Head-on roadway collisions often result in severe outcomes because both vehicles may be moving toward one another at the time of contact. As a result, detailed reviews are often necessary to build a complete understanding of the circumstances involved.
