What Investigators Review After Residential Fires
After a residential fire, investigators typically examine the structure, burn patterns, and possible ignition points to determine how the fire started and spread. They may also assess electrical systems, appliances, and any heat sources inside the home.
Witness statements from neighbors or occupants can help establish the timeline of events leading up to the discovery of the fire. Weather conditions and surrounding property layout may also be considered when evaluating how the fire developed.
Fire damage in neighboring structures can occur when flames or heat spread beyond the original building, especially in closely spaced residential areas. Investigators often work to identify whether the fire was accidental or involved other contributing factors.
Findings are usually released after a full analysis of the scene and any supporting evidence collected during the investigation.
