What Factors Are Reviewed in Impaired Driving Pedestrian Accidents?
Impaired-driving pedestrian accidents are often examined using multiple sources of evidence to determine what occurred before the collision. Investigators may review driver behavior, roadway conditions, vehicle movements, and available testing results.
Nighttime crashes can present additional challenges because reduced visibility may affect how quickly drivers notice people in the roadway. Investigators may also consider lighting, traffic patterns, and whether the pedestrian was crossing at a designated location.
Alcohol-related investigations often include information from field observations, chemical testing, witness statements, and other available records. These details can help create a clearer timeline of the moments leading up to the collision.
Pedestrians are especially vulnerable in roadway crashes because they lack the protection provided by a vehicle. Even a single vehicle striking a person can result in severe or fatal consequences, particularly on roads with higher traffic speeds.
