Harris County, TX (August 14, 2026) – A woman was killed late on Thursday night after being struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross Highway 249 in northwest Harris County, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded around 9:30 p.m. to the 13300 block of Highway 249 for a reported auto-pedestrian crash. Investigators said the woman was attempting to cross the roadway when she was hit by a Toyota sedan.
The driver remained at the scene and showed no signs of impairment. The driver also cooperated with investigators, according to authorities.
Deputies said the woman was not crossing the roadway at a marked crosswalk. The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation. The Harris County Sheriff’s Office is handling the investigation.
