Why Pedestrian Accidents Near Homes Can Be Severe
Pedestrian accidents can cause serious harm even away from major roads. A person standing near or exiting a vehicle has little protection if the vehicle moves unexpectedly. The impact can lead to head, chest, spine, hip, or limb trauma.
Crashes near residences may also involve driveways, parked vehicles, narrow streets, and people walking close to traffic. Investigators may review the vehicle’s position, movement, braking, nearby property damage, and witness statements to understand what happened. When a vehicle hits both a pedestrian and a home, crews may also check the building for damage before the scene is cleared.
