Madison Co., TX (June 3, 2026) – One person died and another was injured Tuesday afternoon, June 2, after a two-vehicle crash in Madison County. The accident happened around 4:40 p.m. in the 6700 block of Highway 21 West, just west of Strawther Road.
Emergency units were called to the road after the report came in. Officials said a 2019 Nissan Rogue was traveling west on Highway 21 while a 2021 Toyota Corolla was traveling east.
According to the preliminary report, the Toyota entered the westbound lane on a rain-slick road and struck the Nissan. The Toyota driver was identified as 23-year-old Mujeeb Kharoti of Houston.
Kharoti died at the site. The Nissan driver, who was the only person in that vehicle, was taken to a hospital for evaluation and possible fractures.
Highway 21 was reduced to one lane for a time after the collision.
Investigators continue to review the details surrounding the wreck. We extend our sincere condolences to Kharoti’s family and loved ones, and wish the Nissan driver a swift and full recovery.
What Details Are Often Reviewed After Rain-Related Roadway Accidents?
Rain-related roadway accidents often require a close look at speed, visibility, tire traction, and lane position. Wet pavement can increase stopping distance and make it harder for drivers to correct a vehicle that begins to slide.
Reviewers may also consider road design, curves, traffic flow, and whether water had collected on the surface. These details can help explain why a vehicle left its lane or why another driver had little time to react.
Vehicle damage, road marks, photos, and witness statements may help show how the cars came together. Medical records can also clarify the severity of harm. In crashes on wet roads, the timeline often depends on both driver movement and roadway conditions.
