Adelanto, CA (June 8, 2026) – A deadly rollover was reported early Sunday, June 7, near Rancho Road and Lilac Road in Adelanto.
The accident happened around 2:37 a.m. A 2013 Dodge Charger was traveling east on Rancho Road at excessive speed with eight occupants inside, according to the report.
The driver lost control near Lilac Road, and the Charger left the roadway before rolling onto its side. The vehicle was designed with seating for five occupants.
At least one occupant was ejected during the wreck. Six occupants were sent to a nearby hospital for treatment, and a 17-year-old boy later died from his injuries.
The boy’s name was withheld until his family could be notified. Rancho Road was closed for about six hours while investigators processed evidence and spoke with witnesses.
The collision remains under active review as more facts are confirmed. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the teenager who lost his life.
Overcrowded Vehicles Can Increase Rollover Injury Risks
When more occupants ride in a vehicle than it is designed to seat, safety risks can rise quickly. Some passengers may not have access to a seat belt, which can increase the chance of ejection during a rollover.
Rollover crashes can also create violent movement inside the cabin. People may strike hard surfaces, be thrown against other occupants, or be pushed toward windows and doors.
Speed can make these outcomes worse because it reduces the time a driver has to correct a mistake. It can also increase the force of a rollover once a vehicle leaves the roadway. In serious cases, investigators may review passenger seating, restraint use, travel direction, and final vehicle position to better understand how the injuries occurred.
