Gouldsboro, ME (August 4, 2026) – A 39-year-old woman died and three others were injured Sunday night, August 2, in a three-vehicle collision. The vehicles came together around 6:55 p.m. at Route 1 and Old Route 1.
A Chevrolet Trailblazer driven by Heather Allen of Ellsworth was struck after another driver entered the intersection. The force sent Allen’s SUV spinning into the westbound lane of Route 1.
A westbound 2014 Subaru Legacy then hit the Trailblazer, causing it to overturn. Allen was pronounced dead at the scene.
The other driver, a passenger in Allen’s vehicle, and the Subaru operator were taken to hospitals. Their names and medical conditions were not included in the initial report.
Route 1 remained closed for several hours before reopening. Investigators continue reviewing the accident to establish the complete sequence of events. We extend our sincere condolences to Allen’s loved ones and hope those receiving treatment recover steadily.
