Milan Township, OH (July 10, 2026) – One person died, and two others were injured on Wednesday morning, July 8, after a three-vehicle collision at Huron Avery Road and Scheid Road in Milan Township. The accident happened at about 11:15 a.m.

Investigators said a Honda CR-V was traveling east on Scheid Road when it was hit by a Jeep Grand Cherokee traveling south on Huron Avery Road. After that impact, the Honda was then hit by a Lincoln MKZ traveling north on Huron Avery Road.

The front passenger in the Honda was identified as Luz Guillen, 74, of Chicago. Guillen was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Honda driver, a 31-year-old Burbank, Illinois resident, was taken to Firelands Regional Medical Center with serious injuries. The Lincoln driver, a 38-year-old Sandusky man, was also taken to a hospital with minor injuries. The Jeep driver, an 18-year-old Norwalk man, refused medical treatment.

The crash is still under investigation. We extend our sincere condolences to Guillen’s family and hope those hurt receive steady care.

How Three-Vehicle Intersection Crashes Can Become Severe

Three-vehicle intersection crashes can become serious because one point of contact may push a vehicle into another traffic lane. When a second hit follows quickly, people inside may face force from more than one direction.

Side and front-end contact can affect passengers differently depending on where they are seated. A front passenger may be closer to the strongest force, while drivers in other vehicles may experience a different level of harm.

Intersections also require drivers to watch cross traffic, signs, lane movement, and vehicles approaching from both directions. After a major accident, reports often review vehicle paths, final positions, road markings, and witness statements. These details can help explain how the vehicles came together and why injuries varied among the people involved.
