Barrington Hills, IL (July 27, 2026) – One person died, and two others were hurt on Saturday morning, July 26, after a rollover crash near the intersection of Brinker Rd and Hills & Dales Rd in Barrington Hills.

The crash occurred shortly before 2:30 a.m. The police arrived and found a male occupant who had been ejected from a vehicle. The person was pronounced dead at the scene, and two other occupants were taken to area hospitals for treatment.

The Cook County Medical Examiner identified the teen who died. Investigators said a Mercedes SUV was traveling north on Brinker Rd when it left the roadway, struck several trees, and overturned. Speed was identified as a contributing factor in the crash. The investigation remains ongoing as officials continue reviewing the circumstances.

Our condolences go out to the family, friends, and loved ones.

Why Are Rollover Crashes So Dangerous?

Rollover crashes can be among the most serious types of roadway accidents because occupants may be exposed to multiple forces as a vehicle leaves the roadway and overturns. Factors such as speed, vehicle movement, terrain, and the use of seat belts can affect the severity of injuries.

Investigators review vehicle damage, roadway evidence, and other available information to determine how a rollover occurred. This process can help identify contributing factors and provide a clearer understanding of the sequence of events.

Drivers can reduce rollover risks by following posted speed limits, staying attentive behind the wheel, and avoiding sudden steering actions. Safe driving practices can help maintain vehicle control and reduce the likelihood of severe crashes.

1Seek treatment promptly after being injured in an accident. Your first priority should always be your health. Many providers offer treatment on a lien basis, meaning you can get the care you need now and pay later when your claim is resolved.
