What Happens When Vehicles Must Be Towed After a Traffic Crash?
When a traffic crash results in significant vehicle damage, tow services are often called to remove the vehicles from the roadway. This helps restore normal traffic flow and reduces the risk of additional collisions caused by blocked lanes.
The need for multiple tow trucks can indicate that more than one vehicle was damaged to the point where it could not be safely driven away. Before removal, photographs, vehicle positions, and other roadway evidence may be documented to assist with any necessary review of the crash.
Injury crashes often require additional time at the scene to complete medical evaluations and assess vehicles. Once the damaged vehicles are removed and debris is cleared, the roadway can usually be reopened to normal traffic conditions.
