What Happens After a Two-Vehicle Roadway Collision?
After a two-vehicle roadway collision, several factors are typically reviewed to determine how the vehicles came into contact. Investigators frequently examine vehicle positions, damage patterns, roadway markings, traffic controls, and statements from the drivers involved. Photographs and other physical evidence can help create a clearer picture of what occurred.
Medical records may also provide additional information when someone is hurt. In many cases, details released immediately after a crash are limited, and more information becomes available over time. Vehicle damage assessments can also offer insight into the force involved and whether repairs are possible or if a vehicle must be removed from service. As information is gathered and reviewed, a more complete understanding of the circumstances can emerge.
