How Distracted Driving Can Lead to Multi-Vehicle Crashes
Looking away from the roadway, even briefly, can reduce a driver’s ability to react to changing traffic conditions. A vehicle can travel a significant distance while a driver checks a phone, adjusts a device, or focuses on something inside the vehicle.
Rear-end collisions can also trigger additional impacts when several vehicles are traveling close together. Drivers can reduce these risks by keeping their attention on the road, maintaining a safe following distance, and avoiding phone use while driving. Staying alert is especially important on busy roads where traffic can change quickly.
