Why Neck and Back Pain Should Be Evaluated After a Vehicle Collision
Neck and back pain are common complaints following motor vehicle crashes, even in collisions that appear to be minor. The sudden forces generated during an impact can strain muscles, ligaments, and the spine, causing injuries that may not be immediately apparent.
Emergency medical personnel often evaluate patients for signs of spinal or soft-tissue injuries before deciding whether additional treatment or hospital transport is necessary. Investigators also examine vehicle damage, roadway conditions, debris patterns, and witness statements to determine how the collision occurred. These findings help establish the sequence of events while ensuring the roadway is safely reopened to traffic.
