San Bruno, CA (August 21, 2026) – At least one person was seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash on Wednesday, August 19, along southbound Interstate 280 near the Black Mountain Road off-ramp in San Bruno.
According to the California Highway Patrol incident log, the crash was reported shortly before 2:45 p.m. Initial information indicated that a silver hatchback had swerved to avoid a possible confrontation involving an unidentified motorcycle and another vehicle before leaving the roadway and crashing into an embankment.
CHP officers later reported that the collision involved two vehicles. One party was reported to have suffered a broken ankle. The incident was subsequently upgraded from a collision with unknown injuries to a major-injury traffic collision.
The silver Toyota involved was reported to be approximately 20 feet down the roadway embankment. Tow truck crews were requested as CHP officers worked at the scene.
Lanes 3 and 4 of southbound I-280 were temporarily blocked, although Lane 3 later reopened. All lanes were reported open shortly afterward.
