What Happens After a Rollover Crash?
Rollover crashes can occur when a vehicle suddenly changes direction, strikes an object, or loses stability. The force of the impact can cause a vehicle to overturn, creating additional hazards for occupants and people working around the scene.
Emergency crews may need to determine whether anyone remains inside a vehicle before beginning other response efforts. Medical personnel also assess injured occupants and determine whether they need treatment at a hospital or trauma center.
Road closures may be necessary after a rollover accident to provide emergency units with enough room to work safely. Crews may also need to remove the vehicle, clear debris, and check the roadway before normal traffic can resume.
