Tecumseh Twp., MI (June 11, 2026) – One person died Wednesday afternoon, June 10, after a crash near M-50 and M-52 in Tecumseh Township.
The accident happened around 1:00 p.m. The intersection was closed for an extended period after the collision.
The report said a white 2006 Sterling semi-trailer had been stopped at a red light on M-52 while waiting to turn right onto M-50. The semi then completed the right turn.
A 2017 Chevrolet Cruze was traveling east on M-50 before the vehicles collided just east of the intersection. The Cruze driver, a 52-year-old woman from Jackson, was brought to a nearby hospital.
She later died from her injuries. The semi-truck driver, a 34-year-old man from Adrian, was not injured.
The fatal wreck remains under review by the Lenawee County Accident Investigation Team. We extend our sincere condolences to the woman’s family and loved ones.
Semi-Truck Crashes Near Intersections Need Detailed Review
Crashes involving semi-trailers near intersections can require close review because large trucks need more room to turn and clear nearby lanes. A wide turn may take longer than a standard passenger vehicle movement.
When a smaller car and a semi-trailer collide, the size and weight difference can make the impact especially serious. Even a crash just beyond an intersection may involve questions about traffic signals, turn timing, lane position, and vehicle movement.
Investigators may also review witness statements, roadway markings, vehicle damage, and final positions to understand the sequence. These details help explain how the vehicles came together and why the crash led to a fatal outcome.
