Hocking Township, OH (September 8, 2026) – A 23-year-old man was killed and another person injured in a fiery two-vehicle crash on Sunday evening on US-33 near US-22 in Hocking Township. The crash occurred around 6:15 p.m. on September 6.
According to the report, a 2016 GMC Terrain driven by 33-year-old Alvaro Uriber of Columbus was traveling eastbound on US-33. The vehicle swerved to the right before Uriber overcorrected, entering the westbound lanes. The GMC overturned and struck a 2025 Chevrolet Trax near US-22.
Both vehicles caught fire following the collision. The Trax driver, 23-year-old Cameron M. Lyon of Caledonia, was taken to a hospital, where he later died. A passenger in the Trax, 23-year-old Abrielle Kerns of Lancaster, was also taken to a hospital with non-critical injuries. She survived the crash.
No information was provided about Uriber’s condition. The crash remains under investigation as authorities work to determine what led to the collision.
