Anaheim, CA (August 6, 2026) — One person was killed in a collision involving an overturned sedan and a semi-truck on eastbound SR-91 near Euclid Street on Tuesday, August 5.

California Highway Patrol dispatch records show the crash was reported shortly before 9:30 p.m. A silver Hyundai sedan overturned onto its roof in the right-side lanes with three occupants trapped inside.

Emergency personnel entered the eastbound roadway from Euclid Street to reach the occupants. Dispatch updates indicated that a semi-truck was involved and that another white semi-truck continued east after the collision.

Broken glass was reported across the roadway, and authorities established a hard closure that included an entrance ramp. Most lanes remained closed while investigators processed the scene and crews removed a tractor-trailer combination carrying a 35,000-pound load. All lanes reopened around 3:30 a.m. The sequence leading to the collision remains under review.

We extend our condolences to the family and loved ones of the fatal victim.

Where the Crash Happened: Eastbound SR-91 Near Euclid St

SR-91 is a major east-west route through northern Orange County. Near Euclid Street, the roadway carries through traffic alongside vehicles entering and exiting through closely spaced interchange areas.

Traffic movements around an interchange can involve merging, lane changes, and sudden adjustments in speed. A nighttime closure affecting the main lanes and an entrance ramp can also divert approaching vehicles into a limited number of open lanes.

What We Know

  • The crash was reported shortly before 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
  • A silver Hyundai sedan overturned onto its roof.
  • Three occupants were reported trapped inside the sedan.
  • At least one semi-truck was involved.
  • One person died.
  • Broken glass was reported across the lanes.
  • A hard closure included eastbound lanes and an entrance ramp.
  • All lanes reopened around 3:30 a.m.

Why Rollover Collisions Involving Large Trucks Can Be Severe

An overturned passenger vehicle can leave occupants vulnerable to additional impacts, especially on a busy state route where traffic may still be approaching the scene. The involvement of a tractor-trailer adds a substantial difference in size, weight, and structure.

Investigators will need to determine how the sedan overturned and where contact with the semi-truck occurred. Damage to both vehicles and their final positions may help establish whether the rollover happened during the initial impact or afterward.

How This Collision Is Investigated

CHP investigators may document vehicle damage, debris, tire marks, lane positions, and the point where the Hyundai came to rest. The glass spread across the roadway, and the semi-truck’s position may also help reconstruct the sequence.

Officials may review witness statements, traffic-camera footage, vehicle data, and information about the white semi-truck that continued east. The initial dispatch record does not establish fault, and the completed investigation may contain additional findings.

What to Do After a Fatal Crash

Family members and other eligible parties may need the official collision report to understand what investigators documented. Medical records, photographs, insurance correspondence, towing records, and other incident-related materials should be preserved while the investigation remains active.

For crashes investigated by the California Highway Patrol, reports are available through the CHP Crash Portal at crashes.chp.ca.gov or through a CHP 190 request submitted by mail or in person. The collision report form is CHP 555, while CHP 190 is the request form.

The online portal fee is $22. Mail and in-person requests cost $10 per 25 pages through CHP. A report becomes available after the investigating officer files it, and the portal indicates when it is ready.

Under Vehicle Code § 20012, eligible parties of interest include drivers, passengers, vehicle or property owners, parents or guardians, and legal or insurance representatives. California collision reports are not public records and remain restricted to eligible parties, with no fixed public-release window.
