Curve Crashes on Two-Lane Roads Bring Serious Injury Risks
Curves on two-lane roads can become dangerous when vehicles travel in opposite directions with limited separation. A vehicle that leaves its lane may give an oncoming driver very little time or space to react.
Older adults may face greater injury risks in serious crashes. Even when safety devices are used, the force of a two-vehicle collision may lead to head, chest, back, or internal injuries that require advanced hospital care.
After a roadway accident near a curve, investigators often review lane position, road design, speed, sight distance, vehicle damage, and where each vehicle came to rest. These details help explain how the crash happened and why the injuries were severe.
