Tamworth, NH (August 26, 2026) – A passenger was killed Monday, August 24, in a two-vehicle crash on Route 16 in Tamworth, according to New Hampshire State Police.
The crash happened around 5:04 p.m. just north of Maple Road. State police said 30-year-old Samantha Remick of Albany was driving a 2023 Subaru Forester northbound when, for reasons still under investigation, the vehicle crossed into the southbound lane and collided with a 2017 Nissan Rogue driven by 43-year-old Matthew Troisi of Winthrop, Massachusetts.
A passenger in the Nissan, identified as 46-year-old Juan Gabarro, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Neither driver was injured, although both were evaluated as a precaution.
Route 16 was closed for approximately five hours while emergency crews responded and investigators processed the scene. The New Hampshire State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit assisted with the investigation, along with the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, Tamworth Fire Department and West Ossipee Fire Department.
