Why Are Pedestrian Crashes Near Driveways and Entrances Dangerous?
Pedestrian crashes can occur in areas where vehicles and people walking share close spaces, such as apartment entrances, parking lots, and driveway crossings. Drivers turning into these areas must watch for pedestrians while also managing traffic movements and visibility.
Sidewalk crossings can become more challenging when drivers focus on turning paths or nearby vehicles. Factors such as lighting, vehicle speed, sight distance, and driver attention can affect safety. Pedestrians may have limited protection if a vehicle enters their path, making awareness from both drivers and walkers especially important in areas with frequent foot traffic. Careful movements near entrances and crossings can help reduce the risk of serious pedestrian collisions.
