Why Frontage Road Pedestrian Crashes Can Be Particularly Dangerous
Frontage roads often carry a mix of through traffic and turning vehicles entering or exiting major highways. This combination can create complex traffic patterns in which drivers may focus on merging traffic rather than on nearby pedestrians.
Pedestrians walking along these roads can face increased risk when vehicles are making turns or entering driveways and intersections. Reduced reaction time, limited visibility, and vehicle blind spots can all contribute to serious collisions.
Investigators typically examine vehicle movement, roadway layout, and sight lines when reviewing pedestrian crashes in these areas. These details help clarify how the collision occurred and whether any environmental or traffic factors played a role.
