Raleigh, NC (August 31, 2026) – A 25-year-old pedestrian was killed early Saturday morning, August 29, in a hit-and-run crash at Capital Boulevard and Durant Road in Raleigh. The collision happened at approximately 3:33 a.m.
According to police, the pedestrian was walking with another person along Capital Boulevard when a vehicle traveling in the right lane struck her. Emergency responders attempted life-saving measures, but she died at the scene.
Police said the driver continued away from the scene after the crash. Wake Forest officers later stopped the vehicle during a traffic stop after noticing damage to it.
The driver was charged with felony hit-and-run and misdemeanor death by motor vehicle. He was initially held on bond and was later released after posting it.
