Augusta, GA (July 22, 2026) – A pedestrian died after an accident late on Tuesday night, July 21, on Mike Padgett Highway just south of Marvin Griffin Road in Augusta. The collision happened shortly before midnight when a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle while in the roadway.
The Richmond County Coroner’s Office identified the person as 45-year-old Sherod Marcus Hobbs of Augusta. Hobbs was taken to Wellstar MCG, where he was pronounced dead at 12:31 a.m. on Wednesday.
The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Division continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the wreck.
