What Investigators Examine in Truck vs Pedestrian Crashes
In crashes involving large commercial vehicles and pedestrians, investigators typically focus on visibility, vehicle positioning, and roadway constraints. The relative size of tractor-trailers often creates blind spots that make pedestrian detection more difficult in tight traffic.
Officials also review driver speed, stopping distance, roadway design, and pedestrian movement at the moment of impact. Physical evidence, such as tire marks, vehicle angles, and witness accounts, helps reconstruct how the collision occurred and whether environmental or situational factors contributed.
