Peoria, AZ (March 17, 2026) – One person was killed, and two others were injured in a multi-vehicle crash involving a dump truck on Monday, March 16, in Peoria. The collision occurred around noon on State Route 74 near New River Road.
Emergency units responded to the scene and found multiple vehicles involved, including a dump truck, a white Jeep Cherokee, and a black Ford Expedition. Authorities said the dump truck was traveling eastbound when it struck the rear of the Jeep ahead of it.
The impact caused the dump truck to leave the roadway and overturn onto its side. The Jeep spun into westbound traffic, where it was hit by the Ford Expedition.
The driver of the Jeep, identified as 54-year-old Lance Estervig, was taken to a hospital and later died from his injuries. A 17-year-old passenger in the Jeep suffered life-threatening injuries and remains hospitalized. A third driver was also taken to a hospital with minor injuries, while the dump truck driver was not hurt.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash, and more details will be released as soon as they become available.
