What injuries are common in rollover crashes?
Rollover crashes usually cause broken bones, head injuries, and spinal injuries as occupants are thrown against the roof, windows, or each other inside the cabin.
What causes a vehicle to roll over?
Rollovers can result from a sharp steering input, a high-speed impact, hitting an object like a curb or guardrail, or a vehicle's center of gravity shifting during a collision.
Why are rollover crashes so dangerous?
A vehicle that rolls can strike occupants from multiple directions and may compromise the roof structure, raising the risk of serious injury even at lower speeds.
Which vehicles are most prone to rollovers?
Taller, narrower vehicles such as trucks and SUVs have a higher center of gravity and tip more easily than low-profile passenger cars.
What to Do After a Rollover Crash in Perris, CA
If you're involved in a rollover crash, stay as still as possible until you've checked for injuries, since adrenaline can mask pain from broken bones or head trauma. Call 911 even if injuries seem minor, and let paramedics evaluate you at the scene. Keep away from traffic lanes if you're able to move safely, and watch for leaking fluids or unstable wreckage. Once you're checked out, follow up with a doctor in the days after the crash, since some injuries from a rollover don't show symptoms right away. Get a copy of the CHP report for your records and keep track of any medical visits tied to the crash.
