How Car Crashes Can Endanger Motorcycle Riders
Motorcycles provide far less physical protection than passenger cars. Riders do not have a surrounding cabin, seat belts, or airbags. Direct contact may place intense force on the head, chest, spine, arms, or legs.
Vehicle occupants can also face severe harm depending on the direction and strength of contact. Travel speed, vehicle size, contact angle, and the point where both vehicles meet can shape the outcome. A motorcycle may also enter the passenger compartment or cause sudden steering movement.
Road design, visibility, turning paths, and traffic flow may influence how the vehicles came together. Investigators frequently review tire marks, vehicle damage, final resting positions, and nearby recordings. Medical findings may provide further context about the forces involved and help explain why the injuries proved fatal.
