The man, the teen girl and the child were hospitalized with injuries described as minor. The Jeep's driver was also hospitalized and is reported in stable condition. A sixth person at the scene was evaluated by firefighters but did not require hospital transport.

Frequently Asked Questions
What can drivers do to avoid intersection crashes like this one?
Slowing down as a light changes, scanning cross traffic before entering an intersection, and never trying to beat a yellow light can prevent many of the collisions that happen at signaled intersections.
What injuries commonly result when a vehicle strikes pedestrians at a bus stop?
People struck by a vehicle often suffer broken bones, head injuries, internal injuries, and in some cases are pinned or trapped, which can require extrication by emergency crews before treatment can begin.
What usually causes crashes like this one?
Running red lights, failing to yield, distraction, and misjudging a vehicle's speed or distance are common factors in intersection crashes involving multiple vehicles.
Does speed change how serious a crash is?
Yes. Higher speed at the moment of impact increases the force a vehicle and its occupants (or nearby pedestrians) absorb, which raises the likelihood of severe injury even in a short-distance collision.
What to Do After a Car Accident in Phoenix, AZ
If you're involved in or witness a crash like this, start by checking yourself and others for injuries and calling 911 right away. Stay where it's safe, since vehicles and debris near an intersection or bus stop can pose ongoing danger. Even if injuries seem minor at first, it's worth getting checked by a medical professional, since some injuries, especially from being struck or thrown, aren't obvious right away. Exchange information with other drivers if you're able, and try to note details like the time, location, and traffic signal conditions while they're fresh. If Phoenix police respond, get the report number so you can follow up later. Giving yourself time to recover, physically and otherwise, matters just as much as the paperwork.
