Pierce Co, NE (January 11, 2026) – A tragic two-vehicle collision on Highway 98 claimed the lives of two individuals and left one person injured on Friday night. The fatal crash occurred around 9:15 p.m. on January 9, approximately two miles east of Pierce, Nebraska.
According to officials, an eastbound vehicle crossed the center line for unknown reasons and collided head-on with a westbound vehicle. The driver of the westbound vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. Emergency responders transported the driver and a female passenger from the eastbound vehicle to Faith Regional Hospital in Norfolk.
Sadly, the eastbound driver succumbed to their injuries at the hospital. The female passenger was later transferred to a medical facility in Omaha for further treatment. Her condition has not been released at this time.
Pierce County authorities continue to investigate the crash as they work to determine the factors that led to the deadly head-on collision. The names of those involved have not yet been publicly released pending family notification.
