Portland, OR (January 26, 2026) – A forklift operator sustained life-threatening injuries after being struck by a train in Southeast Portland on January 23. The accident occurred at approximately 11:20 a.m. near the intersection of SE 12th Avenue and SE Clinton Street.
According to the Portland Police Bureau, the incident involved an Amtrak train and a forklift operator who was working in the vicinity when the collision occurred. Authorities have not yet determined the specific circumstances that led to the crash.
Portland Police and Portland Fire & Rescue responded swiftly to the scene, where they provided immediate medical assistance to the injured man. Emergency medical personnel with AMR then transported the victim to a nearby hospital for critical care. He was identified only as an adult male.
Officials confirmed that the train did not derail and that no other injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
The Portland Police Bureau has launched an investigation to determine how the collision occurred. Additional details will be released as the investigation progresses.
