Frequently Asked Questions

What makes a vehicle roll over?

A rollover typically happens when a vehicle trips on something, such as a curb, soft shoulder, or another vehicle, while moving sideways at speed, or when a sharp steering move shifts weight hard enough to lift the tires on one side off the ground.

Do some roads see more rollovers than others?

Yes. Rollovers happen more often on roads with higher speeds, uneven shoulders, or sharp curves, since there's more room to lose control and less room to correct before tipping.

What injuries typically result from a rollover crash?

Common injuries include head trauma, neck and spine injuries, broken bones, and cuts from broken glass. Anyone not properly restrained is more likely to be thrown around inside the vehicle or ejected.

What to Do After a Rollover Crash in Portland, OR
