Portland, OR (January 21, 2026) – Two people were seriously injured on Saturday morning following a violent collision between a car and an SUV at the intersection of NE Alberta St and NE Cully Blvd in northeast Portland, according to the Portland Police Bureau.
The crash occurred just before 9:30 a.m. and involved a Honda Accord and a Kia Sorento. Emergency responders, including fire and medical crews, arrived quickly at the scene. The driver of the Honda, 27-year-old Kevin DeJesus Mendoza De La Cruz of Portland, had to be extricated from the wreckage by Portland Fire & Rescue personnel due to the severity of the crash.
Both drivers sustained serious injuries and were transported to a nearby hospital. Officials confirmed they are expected to survive.
In the aftermath of the crash, police cited DeJesus Mendoza De La Cruz for driving while intoxicated and reckless driving. Investigators say his actions contributed significantly to the collision.
A parked Subaru nearby was also damaged as a result of the impact.
Authorities continue to review the circumstances surrounding the incident.
