Frequently Asked Questions
Why are motorcycle crashes more likely to cause serious injury?
A motorcycle offers no frame or airbags around the rider, so a crash that a car occupant might walk away from can throw a rider onto the pavement or into another vehicle.
How do left-turning cars cause motorcycle collisions?
A driver turning left across a lane usually misjudges how close an oncoming motorcycle is or does not see it at all, since a bike presents a narrower profile than a car or truck.
What can drivers do to watch for motorcycles?
Checking twice before turning, giving extra time at intersections, and scanning mirrors and blind spots specifically for motorcycles can help a driver spot a bike before pulling across its path.
What should a rider do after a motorcycle crash?
Call 911, stay as still as possible if hurt, and let paramedics check for injuries even if none are obvious at first, since some injuries from a motorcycle crash do not show symptoms right away.
