What Leads to Head-on Collisions?
Head-on crashes often occur when a vehicle crosses into oncoming traffic. This can happen due to driver distraction, fatigue, or impaired driving. Even a brief lapse in attention can lead to a serious impact.
Road design may also contribute, especially on two-lane roads without barriers. Curves, limited visibility, or unclear markings can increase the risk of crossing the center line.
Speed is another factor. Higher speeds reduce reaction time and increase the force of impact. Staying alert, maintaining lane position, and following posted limits can help reduce the risk of this type of crash.
