Frequently Asked Questions
What injuries are commonly seen in rear-end crashes?
Head, neck, and back injuries are common, including concussions and whiplash, especially when an occupant strikes the steering wheel or headrest on impact.
What usually causes rear-end collisions?
They frequently result from following too closely, sudden braking, distraction, or delayed reaction time by the trailing driver.
Does speed change how serious a crash is?
Yes. Higher speeds increase the force of impact, which raises the likelihood of serious injury and vehicle damage even in a straightforward rear-end collision.
Why is distracted driving a particular risk in these crashes?
A driver looking away from the road for even a couple of seconds may not see traffic slowing or stopping ahead in time to brake.
