High-Speed Pursuits and Their Risks on City Streets
Police chases on urban streets can quickly turn dangerous due to high speeds, traffic, and unpredictable vehicle movements. Collisions often involve multiple cars, and impacts at high speed can result in severe damage and serious injuries. Even short pursuits can escalate into life-threatening situations for drivers, passengers, and nearby motorists.
Emergency crews must secure the scene, provide medical care, and manage traffic to prevent further accidents. Vehicles involved in these crashes often sustain significant damage, highlighting the risks of fleeing law enforcement on busy roadways.
