Richmond, VA (January 21, 2026) – Several people were hurt following a traffic accident in downtown Richmond on Tuesday evening near the intersection of 9th St and E Byrd St.
The incident occurred around 7:38 p.m., drawing a rapid response from Richmond Police and local emergency medical services. Paramedics provided aid to individuals who sustained a range of injuries, with some being transported for further treatment at nearby hospitals. The collision involved multiple vehicles and took place near a heavily traveled area close to the James River and key government buildings.
Richmond Fire personnel assisted in clearing the roadway and managing the scene, which caused temporary disruptions to traffic flow during the busy evening hours. Authorities closed off the immediate intersection to allow for safe cleanup and investigation.
