What Factors Are Commonly Reviewed After a Fatal Motorcycle Collision?
Following a deadly motorcycle collision, investigators typically review several types of evidence to better understand how the roadway encounter unfolded. This process may include examining vehicle positions, roadway markings, visibility conditions, traffic signals, and any available surveillance or dashboard camera footage.
Motorcycles are smaller than passenger vehicles and can be harder for other motorists to see, particularly during nighttime travel. Because of this, investigators usually look at lighting conditions and sight distances when reviewing the facts. They may also analyze speed data, vehicle damage patterns, and witness statements to help establish a timeline.
