Why Are Left-Turn Motorcycle Crashes Serious?
Collisions involving motorcycles and left-turning vehicles are among the most severe types of traffic crashes. Because motorcycles are smaller and less visible than passenger vehicles, drivers making left turns may misjudge an approaching motorcycle’s speed or distance.
Investigators examine vehicle positions, impact damage, skid marks, witness statements, and roadway evidence to determine the sequence of events. They may also review surveillance footage and other available evidence to establish whether right-of-way violations or other contributing factors played a role.
