Frequently Asked Questions
Why is distracted driving dangerous in morning commute crashes like this?
Even a few seconds of lost attention during heavy morning traffic can prevent a driver from reacting in time to slowed or stopped vehicles ahead, which is a common factor investigators look at in freeway collisions.
How do road and weather conditions play into crashes like this one?
Low visibility, glare from the rising sun, or wet pavement can all reduce a driver's reaction time on a freeway, and investigators typically review conditions at the time of a crash as part of their report.
Where do most traffic accidents happen?
Many crashes occur on highways and major arterial roads during peak commute hours, when traffic volume and speed differences between vehicles are highest.
What to Do After a Car Accident in Riverside, CA
If you're involved in a crash on a freeway in Riverside, try to get your vehicle out of traffic lanes if it's safe to do so, and turn on hazard lights to warn other drivers. Call for emergency help right away if anyone is hurt, even if injuries seem minor at first, since some symptoms take hours to appear. Stay with your vehicle in a secure spot until officers or tow crews arrive, and get a copy of the CHP report once it's available for your records.
