ROANOKE, Denton County, Texas, Sept. 20, 2026 — A Roanoke police officer was critically injured early on Sunday morning, September 20, in a crash involving a police motorcycle on SH 114 near I-35W. Detectives said a fleeing motorcyclist and another vehicle were also involved in the collision.
Officers reportedly were patrolling SH 114 in response to complaints about motorcycles speeding through the area while a large event was underway at Texas Motor Speedway. The officer, riding a police motorcycle, attempted to stop a motorcyclist who then fled.
During the pursuit, the officer and the fleeing rider collided with another vehicle on SH 114, just west of I-35W. The officer was taken to a local hospital and remains in critical condition, authorities said.
The motorcyclist was taken into custody and is also being treated at a local hospital for injuries from the crash, according to authorities. No additional details about the crash or the officer's condition have been released.
