Montreal, MO (June 20, 2026) – A 16-year-old Montreal boy was seriously injured after a pursuit ended in a rollover crash on Highway 5 near Smooth Hill Drive on Thursday night, June 18.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 10:47 p.m. on Highway 5, approximately 1,500 feet south of Smooth Hill Drive. The teen was driving a 2000 Chevrolet 1500 when the pursuit began.
Authorities reported that a trooper used a patrol vehicle to perform a tactical vehicle intervention, causing the pickup truck to skid and rotate counterclockwise. The truck then traveled off the left side of the roadway and overturned, ejecting the teen from the vehicle.
The teen was flown to University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. The trooper involved was not injured in the crash. Officials said the intervention was conducted due to concerns about the danger created by the suspect’s driving.
